Latest from the Home Office

Emily Dolezal, our admin wiz, has just sent out an e-mail to students currently on the list for the Montepulciano program. This includes students who have been taken off the waiting list and added to the program list. She has sent a separate e-mail to students signed up for sessions I and II, and I have taken the liberty of combining and editing them slightly into one letter and posting it below.

Please note that when Emily writes "accepted," this means that ALL of the hoops have been jumped through. Many students who are "in" the program are still not "accepted" because they have not met one or more of the conditions Emily lists in her e-mail. So read carefully and pay attention!

Hello Hopeful Italy Scholars!

I have been telling you all for weeks that I'll begin accepting students soon and it finally happened this week! So far I have been able to accept six students in session I and seven in session II! Those of you who have been accepted should be expecting or have already received an automatic email from our system and the program directors will send official welcome letters out listing your class choices and important Montepulciano-specific information soon. I would ask that people hold off on asking me about which classes that they're enrolled in before receiving this letter; we have plenty of time before the program begins to get this information corrected.

For the rest of you...please make sure that your applications are complete. There are a few possibilities why you haven't yet been officially accepted...

* You haven't completed the application fully. This may be that you simply have to answer the question about having a passport or check that you've read the payment acknowledgment.

* You haven't chosen your classes. Please remember that the following classes in session I are closed and are not able to accept more students: World Lit and Cultures and Interpersonal Relationships in the morning and Developing Individuals Across Cultures and Intro to Art in the afternoon. In session II, the afternoon World Lit class is closed and is not able to accept any more students.

* You haven't paid your deposit! If you haven't done so yet, you MUST do it soon. I'm removing people who haven't paid and replacing them with people on our long waiting list. Log back into the system and pay the non-refundable $300 deposit.

* I haven't received your signature verification form. Please send these right away; my student assistant and I check them every day. Not everyone is required to do this form and you would have been notified if you needed to.

* You haven't yet been approved by your home campus. This process can sometimes take a long time so if you've turned everything in but haven't heard anything yet don't worry yet.

* You haven't electronically signed our office's welcome letter. This is not an official acceptance letter from the program (that will come from the program director), but an acknowledgment of what I want you to know.

Along with finals, this should give you all enough to think about. Remember that I'll be in the office through December 17 so just because you all are done with finals doesn't mean that you shouldn't worry about this until next semester!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to accepting more of you soon!

Ciao!
Emily
